CONTEMPOARY BALLET / SAARA KILPINEN
MON-WED 9:30 - 11:00
Deeply impressed by the dance scene of New York as well as Balanchine-technique, these elements are connected in her style of teaching, which is a combination of Vaganova and American style. Saara's ballet classes are built upon the idea of freer body awareness, expression and playing with musicality and movement. Saara believes that all bodies are ballet bodies; she is dedicated to teach ballet with a more modern and inclusive touch that welcomes all!
THE CONTEMPORARY SOMA & CREATIVE LABS / CONCETTA CARIELLO
MON -TUE , 11:30-13:00 ,15:00-17:00
THE CONTEMPORARY SOMA + CREATIVE LABS
This course will include 2 morning classes of 1,5hours each and 2 afternoon creative sessions of 2hours each.
This set of classes offers a contemporary dance setting integrated then with some elements from somatic and meditation practices, contact improvisation principles, and stressing the importance of the breath, the sound and the voice, the playfulness, and the use of weight in relation to the floor.
The Contemporary Soma offers an intuitive space where we can cultivate and nurture the physical, emotional, and mental bodies using a combination of improvisation, games, and set material in order to challenge: the physical body in terms of coordination, strength, and elasticity of the movement; the emotional and mental body in its fluctuations as an ongoing inquiry of our inner states.
Throughout the two days, we start from the conscious and attentive training of the body, oiling the joints and increasing their range of motion, to then open the space up to the creative unfolding with explorations and scores focused on active listening, and touching upon elements such as rhythm, voice, and collective resonance.
We also use the movement explorations on the physical plane as a metaphorically charged playground for self-reflection and integration, perhaps enhancing a state of openness and care.

CONTEMPORARY JAZZ / RUSSELL ADAMSON
MON-WED, 17:15 - 18:45
One of Nytke’s most popular lessons - Russell Adamson’s Contemporary Jazz invites dancers again this year! You get to challenge yourself, go beyond the boundaries of your mind and body as well as experience the euphoria of movement!
The body is warmed up at the beginning of the class, and the class progresses to performing dance series accompanied by good music.

CONTEMPORARY DANCE - RELEASED BASED TECHNIQUE/ ZOE CAMILLERI
MON-THUR, 19:00 - 20:30
Contemporary Dance Technique:
The classes are based on release techniques, focusing on the mobility of the joints, with focus on the use of space and rhythm. A play between flow and accented movements through both the use of breath and musicality. The phrases will include floorwork and centre practice that are designed to progress in speed and intensity throughout the week.

CONTEMPORARY DANCE -CREATIVE WORKSHOP / ZOE CAMILLERI
MON-THUR, 17:15 - 18:45
PERFORMANCE AT 16.7
Creative sessions:
Join me in collectively exploring ways of going against the increasingly individualistic way of the world through dance and improvisational tasks. Relating to and borrowing ideas from nature about connection and respect, about living and co- existing in harmony, and using them to inform our dance. The main aim is to search and learn together, while also working towards structuring a little improvised performance to be shared at the end of the week at Hällä-stage.

FlOOR WORK AND IMPROVISATION / LAURA KUUKKANEN
WED - THUS, 9:30 - 11:00
This course is for anyone who wants to learn something new and / or refine their skills in floor work. We start the classes by warming up and tuning-in through guided improvisation tasks.
We will find the floor, our partner, to whom we give our weight, and from which we get the strength to push up as well.
We also danced set material accompanied by good music.

TANSSITEATTERI MD - REPERTOIRE WORKSHOP /
SAMULI ROININEN
WED-THUR, 11:30 - 13:00, 15:00-17:00
Ghost Drafts -repertoire workshop
Spontaneous action, a group of movable black prisms and an electronic soundscape transform the stage into an unfinished miniature world, where the concepts of reaching over to the other side and re-establishing a lost connection begin to take shape with delicate little pulsations and a deeply personal performance. Roininen’s movement material combines control and free flow simultaneously. In the workshop he wants to create an open and meditative atmosphere.

CONTEMPORARY BALLET / MARIA CONCETTA CARIELLO
THUR - FRIDAY, 9:30 - 11:00
CONTEMPORARY BALLET
These classes aim to bring into the ballet technique basic principles of contemporary dance and somatic practices. Directing the attention towards elements such as breath, weight in and out of the floor, spatial expanding and condensing, 3Dimentionality of the movement, physical sensations and
imagery, we are learning how to approach the ballet technique based on our specific needs and wishes. How to direct the breath along internal spatial pathways? How to pay attention to subtle
weight shifts and oppositional tensions in the body? What am I sensing, feeling, and thinking while performing a balletic movement?
These and more elements will be offered as an invitation to slow down and pay attention during the evolution of the ballet class structure, working towards an embodied awareness of how ballet
training can serve each of us and each of our unique bodies.

NYTKE RESIDENCY WORKSHOP / VARIOUS ARTISTS
FRI, 11:30 - 13:00, 15:00 - 17:00

In NYTKE YOUTH, dancers (12-17 years old) get to dance during the week total 17.5 h with top teachers. Led by Oona Leinonen, Venla Manninen and Claudia Peltonen,
In the afternoons (15:00 - 17:00), the choreography will be created with Kristina Norri Seuranen and the finished work will be presented at the Hällä-stage on Saturday 16 July!
Here is Kristina's description of the choreography lessons: '
Kristina wants to discover the participants' characteristic ways of using the body as a means of emotional expression, and to help everyone find their own way to dance. The theme of the work is shaped as the sum of its dancers, and the theme and the work formed from it are worked with various tools. These tools include various choreography exercises, improvisation exercises, and experiments and compositions that explore the relationship between space and bodies. Kristina's approach to contemporary dance and the creation of a contemporary dance work is strongly moving and in her choreographic works she combines different dance styles / techniques and ways of moving.'

CONTEMPORARY DANCE OPEN / VARIOUS TEACHERS
MOD-FRI, 11:30 - 13:00
'The OPEN class of contemporary dance allows you to experience many forms of contemporary dance under the guidance of several professionals. This class is open to everyone, regardless of dance background, This year, Maria Concetta Cariello, Laura Kuukkanen, Oona Leinonen, Caludia Peltonen and Venla Manninen will teach at OPEN classes.
Here's a description of Concetta's lesson (Wed):
'This class is an opportunity for anyone to experience the liberating power of movement. The class includes both physical training and open explorations. It focuses on the development of bodily awareness and the cultivation of a state of presence. We will move slowly and consciously at first, in order to heighten the listening quality of each sensation within the body, to then move into short floorwork sequences, and then we will open the space towards individual and collective guided improvisations.
The aim is to have a first approach to contemporary dance, but also to connect with oneself and others through movement and creativity.'
Attached is a video from 2020, when part of the open level group performed at the outdoor event in the garden of Hiedanranta Manor with choreography by Laura Kuukkanen.
